Mielno city and surroundings
The area of Mielno Commune is 63 square kilometres situated in the middle part of Baltic Coast, 6 kilometres north of Koszalin. The relief of land is mainly lowland. The commune is inhabited by 5100 people working mostly in tourism industry. Village Mielno developed in the 13th century. It was mentioned in 1266 in the foundation act o of Koszalin. It was mentioned in 1266 in the foundation act of Koszalin. First holidaymakers came to the village in 1830. In 1897 Mielno was visited by over 500 people. In the following years there was a constant rise in a number of tourists who took advantage of hotels and boarding houses’ facilities. Accommodation was also provided by villa and summer house owners. Mielno as a spa offered a wide range of attractions: from open-air concerts to cruises on Jamno Lake and therapeutic hot baths.
